This 6-day / 5-night Pacaya Samiria expedition is designed for travelers seeking a raw, immersive, and extended Amazon experience. Traveling deep into the Marañón River zone, you will explore remote waterways, primary rainforest, and wildlife corridors rarely reached by short programs.

Unlike lodge-based tours, this is a true jungle expedition. Accommodation is in basic campsites, allowing daily exploration deeper into the reserve. The longer duration significantly increases chances of observing pink and gray river dolphins, caimans, giant river otters, monkeys, macaws, turtles, capybaras, and countless bird species.

Led by experienced local guides, this journey combines river navigation, jungle trekking, wildlife observation, fishing, night excursions, and basic survival knowledge, always respecting the natural rhythms of the rainforest.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Iquitos → Nauta → Marañón River → Buenos Aires Community

  • Departure from Iquitos between 7:30 and 8:00 am by private vehicle to Nauta (approx. 1.5 hours).

  • Boarding a motorized boat on the Marañón River.

  • Approximately 3.5 hours of river navigation to the Yanayacu–Pucate ranger station.

  • Continue to the Buenos Aires community.

  • Accommodation at the community base camp (house).

  • Lunch.

  • Boat excursion to Huaylla Lake (25 minutes) to observe birds such as herons and horned screamers, and river dolphins.

  • Night walk to observe tarantulas, insects, and listen to the sounds of nocturnal wildlife.

  • Overnight at camp.

Day 2 – Yanayacu River → Renacal

  • 05:00 am sunrise tour for bird and dolphin observation.

  • Breakfast.

  • Navigation along the Yanayacu River (approx. 3 hours).

  • Arrival at Renacal.

  • Camp setup.

  • Afternoon jungle hike searching for wildlife.

  • Dinner.

  • Night boat excursion to observe caimans, turtles, nocturnal birds, possible anacondas, and capybaras.

  • Overnight camping.

Day 3 – Renacal → Chingana

  • Continued river navigation (approx. 4 hours).

  • Constant wildlife observation:

    • Macaws

  • Arrival at Chingana.
