This 5-day / 4-night expedition in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve – Marañón River zone is designed for travelers seeking an authentic Amazon jungle experience, far from conventional lodges and mass tourism.
The extended duration allows deeper access into protected areas of the reserve, significantly increasing opportunities to observe wildlife such as pink and gray river dolphins, caimans, monkeys, macaws, turtles, capybaras, giant river otters, and countless bird species.
Accommodation is basic and adventurous, with camping inside the reserve. Activities include river navigation, jungle hikes, wildlife observation by day and night, fishing, and learning basic Amazon survival techniques. All meals are prepared with mineral drinking water, according to participant preferences.
This program is flexible and can be adapted to the interests and pace of the group.

Departure from Iquitos between 7:30 and 8:00 am by private vehicle to Nauta (approx. 1.5 hours).
Boarding a motorized boat on the Marañón River.
Approximately 3.5 hours of river navigation to the Yanayacu–Pucate ranger station.
Continue to the Buenos Aires community.
Accommodation at the community base camp (house).
Lunch.
Boat excursion to Huaylla Lake (25 minutes) to observe birds such as herons and horned screamers, and river dolphins.
Night walk to observe tarantulas, insects, and listen to the sounds of nocturnal wildlife.
Overnight at camp.

05:00 am sunrise tour.

Navigation along the Yanayacu River for approximately 3 hours to Renacal.
Set up jungle camp.
Guided jungle walk in search of wildlife.
Dinner.
Night boat excursion to observe caimans, nocturnal birds, turtles, possible anacondas, and capybaras.
Overnight camping.

River navigation for approximately 5 hours, with continuous wildlife observation:

Morning jungle walks in small groups through primary rainforest.

Pink and grey dolphins are commonly seen in this area, and our chances are very high, though wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.
We use motorized riverboats equipped with lifejackets and safety equipment.
Wildlife is abundant, but sightings depend on natural conditions. Dolphin sightings are very common.
Mosquitoes are typical in rainforest environments. Bring repellent and wear long sleeves during dusk and dawn.
A basic base camp inside the reserve. Optional camping deeper in the jungle is available upon request.
