This 4-day / 3-night Pacaya Samiria expedition takes you deep into one of the most biodiverse protected areas in the Amazon Basin: the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, accessed through the majestic Marañón River.
Designed for adventurous travelers, this program combines river navigation, wildlife observation, jungle trekking, night safaris, and camping in remote locations. Unlike lodge-based tours, this journey allows you to enter deeper into the rainforest, increasing your chances of spotting animals in complete freedom, including pink and gray river dolphins, caimans, monkeys, river otters, birds, and reptiles.
You will be guided by knowledgeable local experts who share traditional ecological knowledge, identify animal sounds, and teach basic jungle survival techniques. Accommodation is simple and immersive, using tents and community-based camps, ensuring a genuine Amazon experience.

Departure from Iquitos by private vehicle to Nauta (approx. 1.5 hours).
Motorboat navigation along the Marañón River (approx. 3.5 hours) to the Yanayacu–Pucate checkpoint.
Continue to the Buenos Aires community.
Accommodation at the base camp (community house).

Afternoon boat excursion to Lake Huaylla for birdwatching (herons, hoatzins, camungos) and observation of pink and gray river dolphins.
Sunset experience on the lake.
Night walk to observe tarantulas, insects, and listen to nocturnal animal sounds explained by your guide.
